Things I Wish I Knew Six Months Ago
What life and business have been quietly teaching me since.
I saw a post: "Write about things you wish you knew six months ago." It instantly brought me back to when I read Show Your Work—a book that inspired me to share more, especially the things people don’t often talk about, the behind-the-scenes truths, and the things I wish someone had told me.
This is my version of that. A list I’ll probably keep adding to. I’ve learned and continue to learn a few valuable lessons as I navigate life and entrepreneurship.
In the coming weeks and months, I will dive deeper into each.
On Consistency and Progress
Consistency isn’t about discipline alone—it’s a framework that reveals what’s working and what’s not. (I wrote a version of the more extended version of the article to come.)
Keep asking: What’s working? What’s not? Then ask: Why?
Some things aren’t working yet because they need more time.
Other things are working—you need more patience to see it through.
You don’t always need to be “on” to make progress.
There is power in slow seasons.
Take note of what’s working and then build on it.
On Boundaries and Self-Respect
Set boundaries in all areas of your life—and be okay with them, even when others aren’t.
Your clients aren’t your friends, though they can become friends.
Stand firm on your boundaries.
Don’t compromise on time. Respecting your own time sets the tone for others.
If you’re going to do it, just do it—even when it gets messy.
On Rest and Routines
Take a day off—especially when you feel you don’t deserve one. That’s when you need it most.
Switch up your routine—your workspace, how you start your day, your workouts.
Create a routine that grounds you—it helps.
Do something just for you, at least once a week.
Step aside if you need to. Even a day can reset everything. A week can transform you.
On Growth and Discomfort
Every new level requires new discomfort.
Entrepreneurship will test you—and build your character.
What you thought life would be, sometimes it just won’t be.
One bad decision can change everything. But so can one good one.
The best moments of your life are made in the doing.
Sometimes, you might be doing too much.
FOMO is real—but Are you really missing out?
On Faith and Reality
One thing people rarely talk about in business is the unwavering faith it requires.
Sometimes the bills don’t get paid—and it won’t feel okay. But that doesn’t mean you’re failing.
You cannot control everything. Control what you can. Leave the rest.
You might be unconsciously stuck in your comfort zone - Do you really want it?
On Community and Service
We need community, but it doesn’t happen overnight.
Find your people.
Different seasons bring different people—take notes.
Serve others with your heart. It’s more fulfilling than you realise.
On Presence and Evolution
You are living in an answered prayer. Don’t miss that.
Take time to pause—you’ll realise how far you’ve come.
Say yes to aligned opportunities.
Be honest about where you are.
Document the journey. Even the messy, uncertain parts.
Don’t be afraid to be seen trying.
Your desires are allowed to evolve. What you wanted a year ago or even six months ago may no longer serve you.
Honour your word—say what you mean, and mean what you say.
The only limits are the ones in your mind.
Side hustling and full-time entrepreneurship are not the same.
The leap from one to the other? It’s real. And it will test everything you believe about yourself.
